Membership Eligibility

The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States is open to all active duty, National Guard, and Reserve service members, as well as honorably discharged veterans.

Join via the official VFW website or come see us at Post 8185.

You are eligible if you have:

  • Served in the Armed Forces of the United States
  • Received a campaign medal or expeditionary medal for overseas service
  • Received hostile fire pay or imminent danger pay

VFW Auxiliary

The VFW Auxiliary is open to spouses, parents, grandparents, siblings, and children of VFW members and veterans who are eligible for VFW membership. The Auxiliary supports our veterans and the VFW mission through service projects, fundraising, and community outreach.

Frequently Asked Questions

What documents do I need to join?

You'll need your DD-214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) or other documentation showing qualifying service with a campaign medal or expeditionary medal.

Can I join if I'm still on active duty?

Yes! Active duty, National Guard, and Reserve members who have qualifying overseas service or have received hostile fire/imminent danger pay are eligible.

Do I have to attend meetings?

While we encourage participation, meeting attendance is not mandatory. Members are welcome to be as involved as they choose.

Can I transfer from another VFW Post?

Yes! Transfers are welcome. Contact us with your current membership information and we'll help with the transfer process.
